Public Outreach

The International Affairs Society and its members firmly believe public outreach to be a critical part of ensuring the continued prosperity and growth of our international community. As such, the IAS regularly takes part in both local and international outreach programs.

Locally, the IAS runs the George Washington University’s Program for International Education (GWUPIE) that supports education in international affairs in D.C. primary schools.

At the international level, the IAS annually selects a philanthropic organization typically focused on international development and holds regular fundraising events with all proceeds going to the partner organization. Recent supported causes in past years have included support of individual involvement in economic development and micro-financing in Haiti, vocational training and support of Peruvian orphans, as well as provision of clean drinking water in developing countries.
