The Colonial Cadets Program is a training program initiated by the International Affairs Society in the Fall of 2011 with the goal of strengthening its already highly competitive MUN team. The training program is aimed specifically at freshman, transfer students or students otherwise new to collegiate MUN and to provide them with a strong foundation to perform competitively at their first collegiate conferences. The group also promotes university pride, generates connections within the members’ graduating class, University student body and professionally and provides a strong basis of knowledge for the world’s emerging policymakers and leaders.
As a Colonial Cadet, members are expected to take part in a one night a week year long mentoring and training program. From one on one mentoring with veterans on the team to seminars covering public speaking, resolution writing, political strategy, negotiating, policy, interpersonal communication, research strategy and more, Colonial Cadets will significantly expand the skills necessary for them to excel in the national Model UN circuit.
All GW students who have been to no more than one collegiate conference are eligible to apply to the program.
Registration for the Colonial Cadets Program is currently closed.
